    Description

    NINE
    WINDOW CARD 1982 with
    RAUL JULIA
NINE was a multi-award-winning musical that opened on Broadway in 1982 winning the Tony Award as Best Musical. With a cast that has since become legendary as the perfect ensemble, the musical has gathered a cult following. RAUL JULIA starred and he was supported by Liliane Montevecchi, Taina Elg, Karen Akers, Anita Morris, Kathi Moss and more than a dozen other fabulous actresses. Composer/lyricist Maury Yeston won the Tony Award for Best Score. NINE is based on Federico Fellini's film "8 1/2" and musicalizes his apprehensions about turning 40. This window card is signed by most of the original cast and the signatures were gathered backstage. Because it has been almost 40 years, I truly do not remember who signed and who did not and some of the signatures are now indecipherable to me. Fresher eyes might be better able to puzzle out the autographs. Here are the ones I can interpret: Liliane Montevecchi, Kim Criswell, Kate Dezina, Taina Elg, Alaina Zachary, Nancy McCall, Patrick Wilcox, Dee Etta Rowe, Kathi Moss. That leaves half a dozen more that I no longer remember and haven't the patience to study closely. However, I will say that the signature across the chin looks to me like RAUL JULIA but I cannot guarantee it. And it was signed with pale ink which does not show up in the badly lit photograph. Of course, the entire production was directed by TOMMY TUNE. There are several nicks and bumps around the edges of this card. Bottom right corner is bent with a few creases but no loss of paper. Bottom left corner has a bend of about 1/8" with perhaps no more than 1/16" of paper loss. Upper right corner shows minor bend of about 1/8". There are also some scratches to the paper surface mostly on the black portions. The back of the card shows remnants of yellowed tape and has three areas where the thin surface paper has been scraped. The proper frame would hide most of the flaws around the edges. Please see photographs for details. This is not a reproduction. It is from the first run of window cards for the original production in 1982. 14"x22" on heavy cardstock. I have reduced the price to accord with condition. But I also know how rare this window card is, especially with the signatures of most cast members.
